Offered is an authentic and remarkable document signed by President Abraham Lincoln in 1861 as the President of United States of America accompanied with his photograph and Adjutant General Office letter with the following detailed information:

Lincoln, Abraham (1809-1865). 16th President of the United States (1861-1865). Partially printed document signed (“Abraham Lincoln”), as President, vellum, 17¾ x 14¾”, Washington, D.C., August 7, 1861.

Being the appointment of E.E. Paulding (1835-1873) to the rank of Additional Paymaster, effective June 1, 1861. Countersigned by Simon Cameron (1799-1889) as Secretary of War. Also signed as received by Adjutant General Lorenzo Thomas (1804-1875) at the upper left. The usual vignettes appear above and below the text, with a green paper seal affixed and intact at the upper left. Handsomely framed with the letter and original envelope from the Adjutant General’s Office that accompanied the commission when it was sent to Paulding.
