Offered is a marvelous silver decorative plate of Gorham Manufacturing Company depicting in stunning fine highly repoussé the profile of Cleopatra, the queen of ancient Egypt, shown with her famous eagle headdress surrounded by magnificent floral design, and hallmark of its maker, Gorham Manufacturing Company, visible on the reverse right of the plate.

The Gorham Manufacturing Company is one of the largest American manufacturers of sterling and silver-plate. It was founded in Providence, Rhode Island in the year of 1831 by Jabez Gorham, a master craftsman in partnership with Henry L. Webster. The firm products were silver spoons of coin silver, combs, jewelry, thimbles, and later larger sterling and silver-plate.
